WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Henry E. Brown, Jr. was joined by his fellow South Carolinians in the House of Representatives in introducing a resolution honoring the 75th Anniversary of Brookgreen Gardens. The popular South Carolina landmark was first opened to the public by Archer and Anna Huntington in 1932 and has over 550 works by American artists on display, as well as exhibits of native and domestic animals.
On introducing H. Con. Res. 186, Congressman Brown said:
“Brookgreen Gardens is truly a jewel of coastal South Carolina. Like many who travel to see Brookgreen Gardens, my family and I have enjoyed the beautiful scenery, sculpture and native animals that make Brookgreen Gardens such a unique and special place. I am proud to celebrate their 75th Anniversary and wish them well for the next 75 years. "
Located in Murrells Inlet, Brookgreen Gardens is designated a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Service.
