Brown Lauds Passage of Legislation in Support of Disabled Veterans
and Medal of Honor Recipients

WASHINGTON- Congressman Henry E. Brown, Jr. (R-SC), Ranking Republican Member of the Veterans Affairs’ Subcommittee on Health, made the following statement after this weeks passage of legislation that will provide necessary benefits and support to both disabled veterans and Medal of Honor recipients:

"I was extremely pleased that the House unanimously approved, by voice vote yesterday, H.R. 3219, the Veteran’s Insurance and Health Care Improvements Act, legislation that would ensure coverage for totally disabled veterans, allow veterans under age 60 to increase their coverage and establish a priority level for veterans awarded the Medal of Honor equal to the level of Purple Heart recipients.

Additionally, today the House passed H.R. 1293, the Disabled Veterans Home Improvement and Structural Alteration Grant Increase Act, legislation that will increase the amount paid by the Department of Veterans Affairs for improvements and repairs to homes of veterans with service-connected disabilities.

I applaud the passage of these two essential bills as they will provide necessary support and well-deserved benefits to many of our veterans, the men and women who have risked their lives to protect us and the freedoms we hold dear."
