WASHINGTON- Today, Congressman Henry E. Brown, Jr. (R-SC) became a proud cosponsor of H.R. 2546, The Blue Star/Gold Star Flag Act of 2009, legislation that will protect Americans seeking to honor the sacrifices of their family members. After signing on, Congressman Brown made the following statement:
“As thousands of families in the First District alone have their loved ones fighting for our American freedoms overseas, I believe that it is important that they are able to support their family members by freely displaying the Service flag on residential property.
H.R. 2546 prevents any condominium association, cooperative association or residential real estate management association from preventing residents from displaying the American flag on or around their homes.
Simply put, this legislation preserves the rights of America’s military families to fly the flag in honor of their loved ones who put their lives on the line to protect our country every day.”
